Marlboro, MA- Joe Pendenza and Jesse Root scored in the third period to push the Junior Bruins over the Valley Jr. Warriors 3-1. The Bruins wasted little time, precisely, 52 seconds, in getting on the board. Joe Pendenza sent a pass to Colin Downey at the point. Downey then fired the puck to Brad Peltz in the slot and Peltz roofed it past goaltender Greg Hussey. Depsite several chances, nether team was able to slip one past Hussey or Ken MacLean in the second period. Valley's hard work paid off 36 seconds into the third period when Tom Kader set Pat Mahoney up in the high slot. Mahoney ripped a shot at MacLean, who appeared to have made the save, but the puck bounced off of him and trickled into the net. Joe Pendenza netted the go-ahead goal with 11:25 to play when Justin Breton hit him in the slot with a pass. Pendenza carried the puck back to the top of the slot and shot through a screen past Hussey. Jesse Root also received credit for an assist. Root stretched the lead to two goals with 4:32 on the clock when he banged home a pass from Cody Smith. Hussey made 50 saves in the game for Valley, while MacLean turned away 25 in the win. The Junior Bruins return to action on Saturday when they take on the Capital District Selects at the South Shore Kings Showcase in Foxboro, MA.
