Foxboro, MA- The South Shore Kings clinched the Southern Division title with a hard-fought 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Revolution this afternoon.
The Revolution drew first blood just 1:15 into the game when Shawn Sramek passed the puck across the foot of the slot to Ben Pulley, who tapped it past Kings goaltender Robert Levin.
Derek Collucci tied the game seven minutes later. Nick Cruice sent Collucci and Shane Walsh on a two-man breakaway. Walsh carried the puck into the zone and passed to Collucci, who lit the lamp as Revolution goaltender Reed Schlender rushed to get back into position.
South Shore took the lead with 1:12 remaining in the period when Derek Henderson set up Jon Mleczko at the point. Mleczko shot and Tyler Piacentini tipped it home.
Sramek tied the game 49 seconds into the middle frame when he took a pass from James Redman, skated around a defenseman and backhanded it past Levin.
Keith Campbell put Philly back on top with when he scored through traffic from Dan Divis and C.J. Cruz with 12:48 on the c lock.
Kyle LeBrun tied the games when he scored from the point with 4:52 remaining in the period. Colucci and Walsh assisted.
Nick Bligh grabbed the lead for the Kings with 2:38 remaining when he buried Mike Reardon’s rebound for a power play goal. Tyler Cooke set up Reardon.
With 1:31 remaining, Piacentini sent Dean Niezgoda and Jon Mleczko into the zone on a 2-on-1. Niezgoda skated down the right side and passed across the slot and Mleczko shot the puck top shelf.
Neither team scored in the third period. Schendler turned away 34 shots while Levin saved 19. The Kings return to action on Wednesday when they host the Boston Bandits at 2:30 PM.
